post-Mother’s Day Dinner with HIV+ Women

The week after Mother’s Day 2010, I went to a dinner in Brooklyn that Michelle Lopez helped arrange for HIV+ women.  Nearly 50 women and their female supporters attended the event.  A doctor did a slideshow presentation about the effects of  HIV/AIDS on women’s bodies and it was followed by a tasty Mexican dinner during which a singer named Ms. India M. belted out several songs which kept the women singing in chorus.  Two sisters came out in support of their baby...
